Basada en el manga homónimo de Norihiro Yagi, que fue publicado en Japón por la editorial Shūeisha y que cuenta con un total de 27 tomos recopilatorios.
La historia de Claymore transcurre en un mundo con tecnología medieval, habitado por seres conocidos como Yōmas (o espectros), que devoran a los seres humanos desde tiempos inmemoriales. Las únicas capaces de derrotar a estos demonios son las guerreras conocidas como Claymores.
